Duckhams Yuasa Racing set for Porsche Carrera Cup GB title challenge

Duckhams Yuasa Racing is set to start its third straight season in the popular and challenging Porsche Carrera Cup GB this weekend, with its sights set firmly on securing the championship title once again.

Marking a new era in 2023, the programme has switched to frontrunning outfit Team Parker Racing, which has won two of the last three Drivers’ titles – with Duckhams Yuasa Racing claiming the third with Dan Cammish in 2021.

Climbing behind the wheel this season will be returnee Adam Smalley, who finished runner up last time out, and Porsche Sprint Challenge GB champion Harry Foster, making his first appearance in the series.

Adam, the current Porsche GB Junior Driver, claimed a debut victory at Donington Park in 2022, following up with nine further podium appearances to finish second in the standings.

Harry had a superb run of form in the Sprint Challenge, winning six of the final seven races, including a clean sweep at Brands Hatch where he clinched all three pole positions, won all three races, and recorded three fastest laps.

Both drivers will have test sessions on Thursday, April 20th, before the all-important qualifying session at 13:50 on Saturday 21st. The first of two 24 lap contests is scheduled for 12:10 on Sunday, with race two at 16:30, both of which will be broadcast live on ITV4.

Adam Smalley

“I'm really looking forward to getting the year going. We had a fantastic time last season where I finished runner up, so I'm excited to see what we can do this time out. It's a change of atmosphere, joining Team Parker Racing, but we've had a great pre-season testing programme. We're just putting the final pieces of the puzzle in place before we go racing, but everything is looking positive.

“We've been trying lots of different things with the car and have found a place where I'm comfortable and the team are happy. I'm confident we can do a good job, but I know it's never going to be easy. The competition this year looks tougher than ever, there are lots of returning drivers as well as new faces coming into the championship who are very experienced. It's going to be very challenging, but I'll be giving it my best shot.

“I also want to say a huge thank you to Duckhams Yuasa Racing and all our new and returning partners for this season. Without the support from Chris Hodgen, I wouldn't be where I am today. It should be very exciting year and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Harry Foster

“I'm really looking forward to the season opener at Donington Park. We've completed four or five tests by now and I'm really loving the car. It's got a little bit of an edge compared to the Cayman, and it's a step up for me, so I'm excited for the competition.

“Donington Park is a track full of good memories for me, I won the championship there last year and I've done so much testing around the circuit that I'm really familiar with it. It's a nice track to learn on and always provides really good racing, so it's a great place to start the championship. We've all been working hard to nail the different technical parts of the car and improve our speed, so I'm hoping I can deliver some good results for Duckhams Yuasa Racing who have given me this great opportunity.”
