Ericsson in championship lead after double podium

Hampus Ericsson moved to the top of the standings when Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia returned after a brief summer break at Gelleråsen Arena in Karlskoga, Sweden. Celebrating a win in the first heat and finishing 2nd in race two, Ericsson left Gelleråsen two points ahead of Lukas Sundahl who, despite two podiums, lost his 12-point lead finishing 3rd in both races.

Claiming 3rd place in the standings were last year’s runner-up Ola Nilsson. Nilsson was unfortunate in heat one, losing control of his car due to a driver mistake, costing him the win with only two laps left. The Mtech driver soon regaining confidence claiming an easy win in race two.

In the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia´s Pro Am class, Oscar Löfquist and Kjelle Lejonkrans took turns on finishing first in, closing in on leading Micke Karlsson, who finished 7th and 2nd in the class on his home track.

Prince Carl Philip made a comeback in the championship, reaching 5th and 4th place in the Pro Am. This was the first time the Prince appeared in the new generation of the 911 GT3 Cup, with a colorful livery celebrating the Porsche 75 year anniversary.

In Porsche Sprint Challenge Scandinavia, 17-years-old William Siverholm secured his second straight title by winning both races. With four races remaining, two at Rudskogen Motorsenter and two at Mantorp Park, Siverholm now has the chance to go through the whole season undefeated.

Leading up to the race weekend, customers from Porsche Center Örebro, Porsche Center Uppsala and Porsche Service Center Hanging warmed up the track during Thursday’s Trackday. Approximately 60 cars participated, and among them a 911 GT3 quipped with Manthey Racing kit, driven by no other than former NHL player Henrik Lundqvist.

Porsche Expo displayed the new Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupé and the same 911 Dakar Stig Blomqvist drove during the Midnight Sun Rally June 29th – July 1st. Porsche Expo also offered a curated selection of Porsche Lifestyle products while visitors also could learn more about official partners Michelin and HEXIS who were present during the race weekend.

Porsche Race Lounge offered 275 visitors a delicious lunch signed Pontus Frithiof, among them Swedish Ice Hockey Legend Henrik Lundqvist, motorsport legend and world rally champion (1984) Stig Blomqvist and former alpine skier Ingemar Stenmark (86 world cup victories) who came to see PAG Brand Ambassador Aksel Lund Svindal mastering the track in his 911 GT3 Cup.

Sportscar Together Day attracted over 300 participants who, despite issues with the parking area due to heavy rain the weeks before, lined up beautifully at the Go Cart track next to the racetrack creating a beautiful exhibition of Porsches.

Gelleråsen Arena made a great job keeping spectators engaged throughout the weekend with activities for kids, MC stunt show, drifting and a fly-over with fighter jet JAS 39 Gripen. Last but not least; in collaboration with Porsche Club Sweden, a fantastic Porsche parade celebrating the 75-year anniversary with 30 cars from ranging from Porsche 365 to Porsche 911 (992). Among the cars, a few were extremely rare. How about a special Porsche 959, 1 out of 8 every produced.
