Hellsten hopes for a quick turnaround after a failed premiere

He aimed for the top, but after a less successful start, he is only tenth man in the table and 30 points behind leading teammate Hampus Ericsson. - The premiere in Anderstorp was not the start I had expected, says a disappointed Edvin Hellsten before the competition at Drivecenter Arena 17-18 June.

Edvin Hellsten has been third in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia the last two seasons. That he wants to improve that position, and preferably win the championship, was therefore a fairly given goal on the part of Gothenburgers for this season.

But the first part of the competition with the new team Fragus Motorsport did not end at all as Hellsten had hoped. From the premiere at Scandinavian Raceway, he only got ten points after a sixth place in race two. He broke the initial heat after a collision already on the first lap. The damage to the car became both extensive and expensive.
”I have never slammed my car this much before, he says and lets us understand that the repair of, among other things, left wheel suspension both front and rear dug a pretty big hole in the budget. No fun start either in terms of car or results. Now we hope for a turnaround and stable and strong points in the coming races”, he adds.

Crash and zero points
Edvin Hellsten did not really want to start in Småland. Ninth place in Q1 was worse than expected and even if he improved to sixth place in Q2, he was far from happy afterwards.
”We were unlucky with traffic in Q1 and even though our placement in Q2 was better, we never really got the car in order”, he says.
”From the ninth box, Hellsten got off to a great start in the first race and tried to get around the car in front on the inside of the first corner. But the driver in front chose to close that door and I had to swerve onto the grass. When I tried to brake there, not much happened. Hellsten went out on the track and went straight into Mikael Karlsson. Both were forced to break”.

Hoping for a turnaround in Fällfors
Due to the extensive damage, it was on the hair that the team would get the car together for the second race. They succeeded, but no set up ever took place. Still, Hellsten was able to maintain my starting position through the heat and take the finish flag as sixth.

Now Fällfors and three races are waiting at Drivecenter Arena. Hellsten wants revenge there.
”The times we have been there, it has gone perfectly well. The first year I drove the Porsche Apoproved Cup and was second and first in the class in both races. By 2020, I will be six and four in total. We can only hope that it goes well now as well”.
