Enzo Elias is the first leader in the history of new cars in Interlagos

The Porsche Cup C6 Bank Mastercard held its first official activity at Interlagos this Friday afternoon, with free practice for the third stage of the season. At the debut of the new 992 generation cars on the main track in Brazil, it was the name of Enzo Elias that topped the timesheet.

In his best run, the #73 Porsche competitor clocked a 1:35.602 with the Carrera Cup car. Pedro Aguiar followed, 0.225 behind. Miguel Paludo, Rodrigo Mello and Werner Neugebauer completed the top5.

The best car in the Carrera Sport class was Georgios Frangulis's #88, a respectable seventh overall - signaling it has the potential to advance to the Pole Position Mobil race on Saturday morning.

As for Carrera Rookie, the fastest was the #87, by Nelson Monteiro, with the tenth time among the 24 cars on the grid.

For the Sprint Challenge the times were once again very even, with the top six separated by less than half a second. Marcelo Tomasoni prevailed in the end, with the mark of 1:39.097. The second fastest was Caio Castro, winner at Interlagos last year. Ricardo Fontanari, SangHo Kim and Guilherme Bottura completed the top5. The South Korean led in the Sport and Rookie classes.

On Saturday the program starts with the quali of the Carrera Cup, starting at 08:50. Next, the Sprint Challenge grid is defined. The first race of the weekend is scheduled to start at 1:30 pm, with live broadcast by Band, Sportv 3 and official channels of the Porsche Cup C6 Bank Mastercard.

Quotes

Enzo Elias “Free training is when you can really see what's going on. In optional training sometimes it gets confusing, because you don't know the actual tire condition of each one or when a coach is riding in the car. Free training is the certainty of what is happening and it is very good to be first to get an idea of the path to be developed for the weekend. It is undoubtedly a good indicator for the qualifier. We suffered a little bit with the car in the previous optional practice, but we worked hard and solved it. Here's the result. I will do my best to repeat the performance in qualifying and, who knows, turn it into a victory”

Marcelo Tomasoni “The car was very good, the time difference between everyone is really tight because everyone knows the track a lot. I'm really happy, we got the car right and I had a really good lap at the end. We will try to repeat today’s lap tomorrow and seek pole.”
