Larry ten Voorde wins the Carrera Cup race at Le Mans

Larry ten Voorde (Nebulus Racing by Huber) has fulfilled a dream in the Porsche Carrera Cup Le Mans: The Dutchman won the joint run of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and the Porsche Carrera Cup France on the traditional Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans. “A victory in Le Mans! I'm so happy. I was able to prevail in several competitive duels on the track. That was decisive in the end, ”said ten Voorde. At the event in the program of the 24 Hours of Le Mans on Saturday a total of 53 drivers ensured spectacular racing action.

After Florian Latorre (France / CLRT) secured pole position on Friday in bright sunshine, rain showers shortly before the race made for a wet track and challenging conditions. The best way to deal with it was guest starter Loek Hartog (Bas Koeten Racing): The Dutchman made optimal use of the 485 hp of his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup at the rolling start to overtake pole sitter Latorre and ten Voorde. In the course of the race, Hartog and ten Voorde fought a thrilling duel for victory. The Huber driver attacked the front runner several times - ten Voorde passed on the sixth lap and stayed in the lead until the end.

Thanks to two safety car phases, the large starting field moved closer together again in the 45-minute race. The result was thrilling slipstream duels and a large number of overtaking maneuvers. Leon Köhler moved up from sixth on the grid to second. “To finish on the podium at the FIA WEC at Le Mans feels great. Shortly before the end, I was really close to Larry ten Voorde. In view of the special weather conditions, I didn't want to take that risk, ”said Köhler. Third place in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany went to Laurin Heinrich (T3 / HRT Motorsport). The rookie crossed the finish line in sixth overall. “My first podium in the Carrera Cup and that in Le Mans of all places! That's great.

Julian Hanses (Förch Racing) finished fourth in the German one-make cup ahead of the Italian Diego Bertonelli (Fach Auto Tech). In the overall classification of the Porsche Carrera Cup Le Mans, this meant positions eleven and twelve. Bertonelli's Australian team-mate Joey Mawson (14th place overall) came sixth on the 13.626 long track in northwest France. Carlos Rivas (Luxemburg / Black Falcon Team Textar) won the ProAm ranking in the German Carrera Cup.

“We experienced an action-packed and exciting race right up to the last corner. The Porsche one-make cups represent precisely this level of performance. It was impressive to see how over 50 Cup vehicles ensured great motorsport on the historic Le Mans circuit, ”said Hurui Issak, project manager of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany.

Two vehicles from Porsche AG were also at the start. Michael Fassbender drove the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup with the number 919. The German-Irish actor and film producer finished in 38th place. Max van Splunteren, the rookie champion of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, achieved 19th place overall in the VIP vehicle of the international one-make cup.
