Dorrington and Kyle-Henney take debut wins at Donington PCGB Series

The Porsche Club GB Sim Racing Series delivered two action packed races at Donington Circuit on Sunday afternoon. The International Sim Racing Challenge double winner Matthew Dorrington qualified in second position and Ryan Parkins in third for the first race. Matt Kyle-Henney secured pole but only led for three laps before Dorrington took the lead from him. Things quickly went from bad to worse for Kyle-Henney when he spun out on lap 5 dropping him down a place into fourth and promoting Carl Sharkey into third.

The leading four soon pulled away as carnage rained behind with drivers struggling with the tricky 911 Cup Car. The race came alive once more over the final few laps as Dorrington and Parkins pulled away from Sharkey. The battle raged on to the end with both drivers nose-to-tail on the final lap, but Dorrington hung on to clinch victory by just seven hundredths of a second in front of Parkins with Sharkey taking third.

The second race of the day saw a reversed grid and there was plenty of drama on the very first lap with nearly all the front runners involved in multiple incidents. The incidents continued into lap two allowing Kyle-Henney, Dorrington and Parkins to move up some fifteen places. By lap seven the race had settled down with Kyle-Henney leading from the front with Gavin Halls in second and Austin Greatorex in third. Race one leader Dorrington was now up into fifth place with Parkins in front in fourth.

While Kyle-Henney pulled away in front the race behind remained tight between Halls, Parkins, Greatorex and Dorrington. The fight continued right to the end with Dorrington taking fourth and Greatorex in fifth. Parkins made a last-minute move heading into the last corner to take second from Halls, but it was Kyle-Henney who dominated race two taking the checkered flag and the win.

Organised in collaboration with Simacersworld, the Porsche Club GB Sim Racing Series features real world drivers from the Porsche Club Championship and Porsche Club GB members, all competing in the technically identical Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car
