Porsche Carrera Cup has seven debutants in the GT3 Cup for the year 2021

The 2021 season of the Porsche Carrera Cup Brazil is already close to receiving its initial flag. The grid drivers have already had a chance to rev up their machines again during the preseason. The training period before the competitions start for real also serves for newcomers in the category to have their first contact with the most produced competition cars on the planet.

And for the upcoming calendar, the rookies came in force . In cars 3.8 we will have no less than seven newcomers. In addition to Caio Castro, who had been training regularly since the 2020 season, Lineu Pires, the youngest driver on the grid in 2021, Paulo Sousa, Edson dos Reis, Guilherme Bottura, Nasser Aboultaif and Raijan Mascarello arrived on the grid this year.

Caio Castro is one of the old acquaintances of the public. The actor and presenter has never hidden his passion for speed from anyone. He started training even in the 2020 season, preparing his debut in the Porsche Cup for the year 2021.

Lineu Pires, in addition to being a rookie in the category, carries an extra weight due to his age. The youngest driver on the grid in 2021 spoke about his first contact with the most produced racing cars on the planet. “My expectations for debuting in the Cup are there in heaven. I'm the youngest driver on the grid, riding against a bunch of 'old monkeys'. I'm only 21, many drivers are twice my age, but I want to make the most of it so I can walk close, if not, in front of them. ”

Who also arrived in the Porsche Cup in 2021 was Guilherme Bottura. With a layout that drew everyone's attention in the preseason for simulating a shark in the car, Bottura did not hide the anxiety and happiness of being inside the cockpits of the Porsche Cup.

“The preseason was interesting because I had the chance to go in two days to the track to understand the car. We put together an entire development plan to be able to cover everything in this pre-season, which even gave us the chance to walk already thinking about lowering the times to stay competitive. It was a very useful first contact, which made me very anxious to be able to make my debut for good.

Another driver who arrived on the grid for the first time was Edson Reis. His trajectory in motorsport is very different from the vast majority of Brazilian drivers. Edson started late in motorsport. He made his first season on the tracks in 2019 in Paraná. In 2020 he started competing in the entry class of a national level category, at the age of 39. Arrives in the Porsche Cup in 2021 to face the most powerful cars that have ever accelerated on the tracks. However, this does not scare the driver who expects a good debut season.

“The debut is always important. 2021 is going to be a year where I have to learn a lot. The Porsche is a very different car than anything I've driven in my life. Despite the difficulties of adaptation, I hope to get some podiums and why not fight for victories later this year. ” commented Edson.

Another newcomer in the category was the fast and charismatic Paulo Sousa. The owner of machine # 32, wearing blue and green, commented on the anxiety and optimism in reaching the category. “It will be a year of learning. I was very well received here by both the organization and my opponents on the tracks. I've had previous experiences on the tracks, but never in the molds that I found here at the Porsche Cup. I hope to be able to evolve even more as a driver, which is my big goal of the season. ”

Raijan Mascarelo is another driver who will join the Porsche Cup grid in 2021. At the age of 16 he was making his debut in motorsport. It arrived in 2009 on the asphalt. With passage in the most diverse categories of national motorsport, passing by touring cars, trucks and GT, Mascarello arrives in the Porsche Cup after a year away from the tracks.

“The pre-season was very important for me to get to know the car well, which I was not very familiar with. It is very different from the cars I have raced in the last few years of motorsport. But, I fell in love from the first contact with the car, this is a real race car. ”

Last but not least, the seventh rookie in the GT3 Cup is Nasser Aboultaif. The driver makes his motorsport debut in the Porsche Cup.

“The car is excellent! Accelerates a lot, brakes very well. I am learning a lot these days and with each exit from the pits I feel that it evolves even more. I was very well received by everyone here and I hope it will be the first of many happy years in the category. ”
