Llarena set for Porsche Carrera Cup North America Official Test
Mateo Llarena is gearing up for the Porsche Carrera Cup North America Official Test at Sebring International Raceway. The 17-year-old Llarena has quickly became known as a 911 specialist across the globe, earning him an invitation to test the new Porsche GT3 Cup March 8-9 in Sebring, Florida. He established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the German machines after a successful Porsche Mobil 1 Super Cup Europe season in 2020 and always welcomes an opportunity to work further with the renowned brand.

With his long list of success’s trailing him, the Guatemalan was the go-to choice for Karsten Molitor and Johan Koning, principals of MRS GT North America, a Porsche Super Cup Europe team who recently set up operations in Florida. To add to Llarena’s already impressive resume he has driven every Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car developed over the past decade, including the 996, the 997, the 991 and now the 992. Together, MRS GT and Llarena will be a part of history in the making as the new generation Porsche 911 GT3 Cup will make its debut in a factory-supported series.
The test kicks of Monday, March 8 at the history 17 turn, 3.74-mile track. Each team received its car on February 19, however the ECU’s have been locked to ensure the playing field is level upon arrival at the track. Porsche Carrera Cup North America Round 1 follows the test weekend on March 17-19 at Sebring International raceway.
