The Frikadelli Racing Team made another strong appearance at the end of this year's Nordschleife season. Despite an involuntary spin in the start phase, Tobias Müller and Felipe Fernández Laser secured victory in the Pro-Am classification and fifth overall with a strong chase for the team of team boss Klaus Abbelen.

“It was certainly not an easy race for us today. After we were turned around by an opponent while braking for the first corner, a place at the top of the overall classification was out of reach early on. Still, we didn't give in and tried to work our way through the field as far as possible. With the victory in the Pro-Am classification and fifth place overall, we managed to do this very well. It was the maximum that was still possible under these circumstances, ”says Klaus Abbelen.

On Saturday morning, the Nürburgring Nordschleife was initially dominated by thick fog. This meant that qualifying could only be started with a delay of more than two hours. In the session shortened to 45 minutes, Felipe Fernández Laser secured a promising starting position for the Frikadelli Racing Team. With a time of 8.08.465 minutes, he placed the # 30 Porsche 911 GT3 R in second place in the overall classification, which should also mean pole position in the Pro-Am Cup.

However, the team from Barweiler could not benefit from this in the race, as starting driver Tobias Müller was hit by an opponent in the rear area as he turned into the first corner and turned around. Although he was able to continue the drive with the nine-eleven, he had to come in last at the very end of the first starting group. Afterwards, Müller and later also teammate Laser set out on an impressive race to catch up, through which the first Pro-Am victory for Frikadelli Racing in the 2021 season and fifth place overall could still be secured.

Felipe Fernández Laser: “Based on the pure pace we could have fought for the overall victory. It's a shame that this wasn't possible for us after the goal at turn one. Despite the incident, the car continued to drive consistently and well. I felt very comfortable in the cockpit again and would like to thank Klaus and the entire Frikadelli Racing Team for their commitment. It was a lot of fun to be there again. "

Tobias Müller: “After the race was almost over after the start in turn one, we were able to report back strongly with fifth place overall and victory in the Pro-Am classification. So the bottom line is a result with which we can still be completely satisfied. Many thanks to the Frikadelli Racing Team for the renewed trust in me.
