Proton Huber Competition junior drivers gain further Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup experience in Monaco

Just one week after the season opener in Imola, the action continued for the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup drivers. The legendary street circuit in Monaco presented a special challenge for the Proton Huber Competition drivers Sebastian Freymuth, Roar Lindland and Alexander Tauscher.

In practice on Thursday, Tauscher impressed with his first ever laps on the challenging street circuit. The 21-year-old put in a strong performance in damp conditions and finished fifth. However, he was unable to put together a perfect lap in qualifying on Friday and ultimately had to start the race from 14th on the grid. The two other drivers from the Hofkirchen team followed behind.

The race showed once again that overtaking with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars is almost impossible on the narrow Circuit de Monaco. Tauscher showed a faultless performance and finished the race on the bumper of the car in front of him in 14th place, taking 13th place due to a time penalty against the competitor in front of him, meaning that the Bavarian finished in the points for the first time in his Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup career. Sebastian Freymuth also showed a flawless race and finished 17th.

"We are happy that the two boys, Alexander and Sebastian, were able to drive important kilometres in Monaco. The experience will pay off in the end and we are looking to come back stronger next year. Alex has his first points. We are happy with Sebastian's development, he is improving from weekend to weekend," says Michael Dirsch, who heads the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup programme at Proton Huber Competition.

Dirsch also has words of praise for the third driver, gentleman driver Roar Lindland, who supports the two youngsters in Christoph Huber's team with his experience. "Roar has done a super solid job, including passing on his experience to the boys," concludes Dirsch. The Scandinavian finished the race in 20th place.

The next race weekend in what is probably the strongest Porsche one-make series in the world will take place on the last weekend in June. The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will then be held as part of the Formula 1 supporting programme at the Red Bull Ring in Styria. For Proton Huber Competition, this will be this year's home race in the Supercup season.
