Romain Dumas will tackle the Pikes Peak hill climb again this year. This will be the 99th edition of the event, scheduled for June 27. The Frenchman is a quadruple winner and holder of the 2018 climb record on Volkswagen's ID R electric prototype

This time, Romain will drive a Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport prepared by the former IMSA team, Champion Racing.

Champion Racing started racing Porsches at the end of the 1990s. The structure has won numerous victories and podiums in endurance races, notably the 12 Hours of Sebring or Petit Le Mans. The highlight was probably his success at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2005 with Audi. On R8 # 3, Tom Kristensen,  JJ Lehto and Marco Werner won it. Champion Racing had become the first American team to win the French Classic in 38 years.

Pikes Peak 2021 will mark the Florida dealership's return to competition for the first time since the 2008 American Le Mans Series season where it managed the factory program for the Audi R10 TDI. The team had indeed ceased its activities at the end of the ALMS program that year. The June 2021 event will also be the first without company founder Dave Maraj, who died in a boating accident in 2018.

Last year Porsche legend Jeff Zwart in the iconic Porsche 935 took seconded place in the Time Attack in the Porsche Mobil1 winged horse livery. Jeff has seen the mountain from every angle making commercials for numerous brands and his knowledge of the mountain is second to none. Zwart crossed the finish line with a time of 9:43.921, fifth overall.
