Team Hardpoint EBM’s Katherine Legge Fifth Quickest at Detroit

Team Hardpoint EBM has turned their attention to Saturday afternoon’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GT Daytona (GTD) race following Friday’s qualifying on the streets of Detroit, where the No. 88 Richard Mille/GridRival Porsche 911 GT3 R will start from the inside of row six.

The green flag flies on the 100-minute Detroit Grand Prix at 5:10 p.m. EDT on Saturday, June 12, utilizing the 2.3-mile, 13-turn temporary street circuit laid out on the streets of Belle Isle. The race can be seen live on NBCSN, or streamed through TrackPass on the NBC Sports app.

Friday’s GTD qualifying consisted of two separate 15-minute sessions. Rob Ferriol drove the opening session limited to Gold and Silver-rated drivers to set the grid, with Katherine Legge driving the second session that offers season-long points.

Legge’s best lap in the session came in 1:30.140 (93.853 mph), just 0.269-second off the quickest qualifier. Her lap earned the team 26 championship points in the season-long championship.

“We’re really looking forward to tomorrow’s race,” Legge said. “We should have a really good race pace, but the challenge will be turning that into track position. Everyone has worked really hard on the Richard Mille/GridRival Porsche 911 GT3 R, and we’ll see how far forward we can take it.”

Ferriol's best lap of 1:31.841 (92.115 mph) came eight laps intl his session, which puts the team provisionally 11th on the starting grid. Ferriol will start the race before handing the No. 88 Porsche 911 GT3 R to Legge to drive to the finish.

The final remaining stop before Saturday’s race is a brief 20-minute warm-up at 10:10 a.m. on Saturday morning. Pre-race festivities begin at 4:15 p.m. ET, with the green flag waving on the one hour, 40-minute contest at 5:10 p.m.
