Team Shanghai Yonda to expand to two-car PCCA effort in 2022 with Absolute Racing
Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Pro-Am race winner Team Shanghai Yonda will expand to a two-car outfit in time for the 2022 season this summer, joining forces with Absolute Racing as the team's technical partner.
Team Shanghai Yonda has been part of Porsche Carrera Cup Asia since 2013. The team is committed to establishing themselves as the team to watch in 2022 and beyond with technical support of Absolute Racing.
Absolute Racing has been a powerhouse in the Porsche China supported series from its inception, having won the championship for several times in both Overall and Pro-Am classes, taking the honours in the Porsche Dealer Trophy too.
Reigning Pro-Am champion Bao Jinlong will return to the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia grid this season at the wheel of the Team Shanghai Yonda Porsche 911 GT3 Cup now prepared by Absolute Racing. The Chinese driver made a huge impact in the last three seasons, taking the Pro-Am category honours thrice.
Joining Team Shanghai Yonda for the first time is another Absolute Racing familiar face - Bian Ye. As he heads into his sophomore season this year in the Carrera Cup Asia, the Chinese GT driver is stepping up to the highly-competitive Pro class.
Victor Yu, Team Manager of Team Shanghai Yonda, said: “We are very happy to cooperate with Absolute Racing Team in the 2022 PCCA season. Absolute Racing team is part of all major motor racing events, and I am confident in their ability to give the finest technical service possible to Team Shanghai Yonda. We hope that in our first cooperation, via effective communication and faultless teamwork, we will deliver the greatest technical services to our drivers and racing cars, so that they will be in the best condition to achieve excellent results in this fierce competition.”
Absolute Racing's Team Director Fabien Fior added: “We are pleased to partner up with Team Shanghai Yonda, a team with tradition and success in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia. We are very happy to have Bao Jinlong back in the team, as both him and Bian Ye are known quantities to us. I have no doubts that we are capable of achieving some strong results this year.”
The 2022 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia is run over six race weekends of 12 rounds. The season will kick off on July 30-31 at Zhuzhou International Circuit.
