Team Betterlife and Li Chao rejoin PCCA with Absolute Racing
For the tenth time in a row, Li Chao will compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA). With Absolute Racing now operating Team Betterlife's type-992 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, the 2022 season will mark their comeback to the sport.
Betterlife Group established Team Betterlife in 2008, making it one of the first Porsche Dealer teams from the People's Republic of China to compete in Carrera Cup Asia. In the 2012 campaign, Li Chao made his debut appearance for the team. An automobile dealership services provider in China focused on luxury and ultra-luxury brands, Betterlife Group operates '4S' dealerships selling and servicing Porsche and other marques.
“We have strong expectations for PCCA this season, and we hope that our Team Betterlife will do our best and could achieve good results,” a team statement said. “At the same time, we also want to create our own Team Betterlife culture by combining the racing culture and Porsche brand culture: born on the track and galloping on the road. Pass it on to the car owners of Betterlife, and invite them to understand the racing culture together, feel the charm of racing more intuitively, so that they can all fall in love with racing and become the next racers."
Team Betterlife driver Li Chao has competed in the Carrera Cup Asia since 2012, finishing third in the Pro-Am class in 2019. With a vast experience driving Porsche racing cars, the 41-year-old from Beijing has also competed in the China GT Championship, finishing the series as runner-up in 2017 and 2018. He finished third in the GT Super Sprint Challenge round at Zhuhai last season, driving his Porsche 911 GT3 R run by Absolute Racing.
Li Chao is pleased to be renewing a long-standing association with Team Betterlife and joining Absolute Racing for the first time in PCCA this season. “My tenth year in PCCA. I'm definitely looking forward to working with Team Betterlife, the team I joined during my first championship season. Now that Team Betterlife has made the decision to rejoin PCCA, I couldn't be happier to work with them once more and continue our six-year-old partnership. Additionally, this is my first PCCA season with Absolute Racing, and I'm hoping that our collaboration will enable us to consistently place on the podium in the Pro-Am class this year.”
Absolute Racing Team Director, Fabien Fior, is delighted to welcome Team Betterlife and Li Chao in the team for the highly-competitive Porsche one-make cup series new season. He feels there is more to come from Li Chao and Team Betterlife, and is eager to assist both in making this happen.
Fabien Fior added: “We are really happy to welcome Li Chao and Team Betterlife in the team for the Carrera Cup Asia upcoming season. Li Chao knows the team well from previous experiences in GT categories. He is aware that he has a strong group of people working for him. We have a great deal of belief in both Team Betterlife and Li Chao and look forward to them justifying that in the season ahead.”
Li Chao, like all the drivers in the Carrera Cup Asia, will be racing the latest model Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and will have a first major test session at the championship pre-season tests at Zhuhzou on 26/27 July. The first two races of the season will be at Zhuzhou on 30/31 July.
