Two weekends, four races: starting signal for the Asian Le Mans Series

Two race weekends in the United Arab Emirates are on the agenda for Herberth Motorsport in February. The Asian Le Mans Series will host two 4-hour races each in Dubai (12 and 13 February) and Abu Dhabi (19 and 20 February). After the success in 2021, the goal for the second appearance is clear: to get another starting place for Le Mans.

"We compete to win. We definitely want to make a grid position clear again for Le Mans," said Robert Renauer, who himself competed in the legendary race in France after the class success in the Asian Le Mans Series in 2021.

The team from Jedenhofen will field three Porsche 911 GT3 R in the United Arab Emirates to get their ticket to the Le Mans endurance classic. The #33 nine-man driver will be driven by Antares Au, Klaus Bachler and reigning Asian Le Mans Series champion in LMP2 Yifei Ye.

True to the motto "Never change a winning team", the second Porsche with the number 91 will be driven by last year's winners of the GT class. Ralf Bohn as well as Alfred and Robert Renauer start together to repeat their successes. Right at the start in Dubai, the well-rehearsed trio won the race. Subsequently, a second place and two fifth places led to victory in the championship. The crew of the third Porsche with start number 99 starts in the GT-Am classification. Jürgen Häring shares the car with Tim Müller and Marco Seefried. In this class, too, the Porsche squad can hope for a successful participation.

The championship kicks off at the Dubai Autodrome with two races, just one week later the field meets just 130 kilometres away at the Formula 1 circuit in Abu Dhabi for rounds three and four. "Both circuits are something special. A few weeks ago, we already drove in Dubai, so we were able to collect important data and prepare well. The double-header, which then sends us directly to Abu Dhabi, is of course associated with great effort. But we will get the best out of it to be able to compete at Le Mans again," adds Alfred Renauer.

The Asian Le Mans Series will broadcast all qualifying sessions and the races via live stream. The first race starts on Saturday, February 12, at 13:00, followed by the second race on Sunday, at 14:00. In Abu Dhabi, the starting signal will be given on Saturday, February 18, at 11:00 a.m. and on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
