Werner Neugebauer is the 1st leader in the Velocitta with the new cars

The Porsche Cup C6 Bank Mastercard promotes this weekend the debut of the brand new cars of the 992 generation at the Autodromo do Velocitta in a journey full of novelties: the cars debut performance ballasts, the Carrera Cup grid vehicles stop using the brake system with ABS and quali again has a session dedicated to the top 10 to determine the poles.

In this scenario, who prevailed was the competitor of car #8, Werner Neugebauer. He was a strong contender for victory in Goiânia until he was forced to retire due to damage to the belt of his Porsche, but in the interior of São Paulo he confirmed the quick adaptation to the new equipment - and in a very demanding route from a physical point of view, due to the shorter distance. traveled in straight lines.

Enzo Elias and Miguel Paludo followed closely behind, both less than 0.1s behind Werner. In a respectable fourth place appears Lucas Salles, who comes with 100% success in the Carrera Sport class. The top5 was completed by Lineu Pires, another who swept his class in the opening day in Goiânia, dominant in the Carrera Rookie class.

For the Sprint Challenge Marcelo Tomasoni set the pace with a flying lap in the final minute of the session. He ousted Marcio Mauro from the top of the timesheet by a respectable margin of 0.401, an unusual difference between the two fastest in the highly competitive context of the Porsche Cup C6 Bank Mastercard. Cristian Mohr, Daniel Corrêa and Nelson Marcondes, in that order, completed the top5. In sixth, Ramon Alcaraz was the fastest in the Sport class, while, in 15th, Gustavo Zanon led the Rookie, showing great progress in what is only his second race with competition cars.

On Saturday, the time trials and the first two tests of the stage take place. Qualifying training will be divided into three phases. In the first, the pilots of the Rookie sub-championships accelerate. Then come the Sport and General class cars. Then the ten fastest return to the top 10.

The races are broadcast by Band, Sportv and official channels of the Porsche Cup C6 Bank Mastercard.

What did they say:

“In Goiânia, the belt ended up bursting, it's a problem that happens a lot there. Today it doesn't mean much in terms of the championship. But, it shows that we have a good car to be in the fray. Going without ballast on a difficult track to overtake, the car doesn't feel much weight and it has little influence. I've ridden with 50kg ballast here and managed to defend myself, the Velocitta is historically the most difficult track to overtake on the calendar. Riding without ABS can help a lot in this matter, as there is a chance that drivers will make mistakes in braking and make overtaking easier.”
Werner Neugebauer

“This is a difficult track, physically exhausting. Cars without ABS made his driving more delicate. Yesterday I struggled to adapt the driving, but I managed to do well and understand the car. Confident for tomorrow's qualifying session.”
Lucas Salles

“We started the stage well, the ABS got in the way a bit, but I managed to adapt. Velocitta demands a lot physically, I felt a little pain in my arms and neck, but it's normal. The result in training doesn't have much weight, because it's just a training session, but I'm going to try to repeat Goiânia and win the two victories here.”
Lineu Pires

“It was hard work to get to where we are. I managed to set a good lap on the good tire and set the best time in today's practice. Now it's time to try to repeat that good lap in quali and fight for the first positions on the grid.”
Marcelo Tomasoni

“Very happy with the result of the training. I had done well yesterday and today it took me a while to find myself in training. I managed to fit in some good laps in a row, which makes me even happier. More important than a magic lap is putting in a good consistency and that makes me very excited for the qualifying tomorrow.”
Ramon Alcaraz

“We got the preparation right and I tried to take it to the track. I really liked the car and the track and the result appeared. There is still a long way to go, but I believe that I can evolve by gaining confidence in the car and I believe that I will be among the first in Sport.”
Gustavo Zanon
