Second round of the Porsche Club Historic Challenge
After a successful season opener of the PCHC at the Hockenheimring at the end of March, the protagonists of the The Porsche Club Historic Challenge (PCHC) are now entering the second round. The second round of the 2022 season will be held next weekend on the approximately four-kilometre-long race track in Zolder, Belgium. The last time the Porsche drivers were guests at Zolder was in 2019. At that time, Heinz Bert Wolters and Christian Voigtländer took the overall victories.
According to the starter list, 24 starters are expected for the first foreign guest appearance of the series. Class 10 of the frontrunners is very strongly occupied. Hockenheim winner Klaus Horn is getting better and better with his 991GT3 R. In Zolder, the Landauer wants to build on his double success at Hockenheim. You have to beat him if you want to apply for an overall victory. Returnee Heinz Bert Wolters (997 GT3 R) has this firmly in his match plan. You can look forward to this duel. Or is there even a laughing third party. With Jürgen Albert (991 GT3 Cup), another aspirant is waiting who is always good for a place at the very front. With Peter Mamerow (991 GT3R), another driver is on the list who will have a huge say when it comes to the distribution of the podium places. Mario Meister (991GT3 Cup) and Thomas Lindemann are also highly rated. Plenty of excitement is provided in this class.
With Markus Maier and Werner and Michael Salmen (both 991 GT3 Cup), two teams are competing for class victory in Class 9. In Class 8 of the first-generation 991 GT3 Cup, three drivers will be on the grid. Eduard Heinz wants to confirm his class victory from Hockenheim and has to deal with Dr. Michael Thomas and Udo Schwarz from Hamburg. Marvin Meister (997 GT3 Cup) will start in Class 7 as the favourite. The double winner of Hockenheim will meet another four competitors. Kurt Ecke and Thomas Birkenmaier from Team Ecke Motorsport will be at the start. Jürgen Lauscher, Heiner Immig and Vitus Harder (all 997 GT3 Cup) will also be there. This class also promises to be an exciting confrontation.
In Class 6, series winner Christian Voigtländer (997 GT3 Cup) had to give way to a competitor for the first time at Hockenheim. In the second race, the Berliner had to leave the class victory to Bernhard Wagner after a collision. In Zolder, Voigtländer will do everything in his power to restore the old order. In addition to Bernhard Wagner, Wolfgang Bensch, another 997 GT3 Cup driver, will be on the grid. Also in Class 6 is Luxembourg's Claude Dichter, who is driving a 996 GT3 Cup. Boris Hartl (997 GT3) will start as soloists in class 5, Olaf Busse (Cayman 718) in class 4, Arne Bast (993 RS) in class 3 and Helmut Piehler (Cayman S) in class 1.
