Start-to-finish victory: Heinrich wins first Carrera Cup race
Laurin Heinrich (Van Berghe Huber Racing) cheered: on Sunday the German won his first race in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. “At first I felt the pressure, but after nine podium places I really wanted to go for my first win. In the course of the race I was able to develop a stable lead and of course I am happy with the great result, ”said Heinrich. At the fourth round of the season in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, the 19-year-old managed a start-to-finish victory. Porsche Junior Ayhancan Güven (Turkey / Phoenix Racing), who drove to his debut victory in the German one-make cup on Saturday, finished second. The podium was completed by leader Larry ten Voorde (Netherlands / Team GP Elite).
Pole-setter Heinrich initially won the start, but after a collision in the back of the field, the safety car came onto the track after the first lap. At the restart, pursuer Güven lurked behind Heinrich. The Huber driver, however, was unimpressed, defended the lead and then pulled away from his pursuers. Heinrich crossed the finish line after 20 laps - his first victory in his 17th Carrera Cup race. Güven followed 0.8 seconds behind the driver from the talent pool, the promotional program of the one-make cup. “Victory on Saturday and second place on Sunday are a top result. In the race, unfortunately, I didn't manage to put Laurin Heinrich under decisive pressure, ”explained Güven.
Ten Voorde defended the championship lead with third place. “On the first lap I dropped to sixth place. It was very combative in midfield. That was really fun and I gave everything to go as far forward as possible, ”summarized ten Voorde. Christopher Zöchling (Austria / Fach Auto Tech) and Leon Köhler (Germany / Nebulus Racing by Huber) fought a spectacular duel for fourth place. Zöchling defended himself passionately until the tenth lap, but then Köhler found the crucial gap and crossed the finish line in fourth. Behind Zöchling, Max van Splunteren (Netherlands / GP Elite) came in sixth. His compatriot Morris Schuring (Team GP Elite) was the best rookie in seventh place. Julian Hanses (Germany / HRT Performance),
Bastian Buus (Denmark / Allied-Racing) made a remarkable comeback on the 3.667 kilometer track. The 17-year-old rookie started from 27th position and after many overtaking maneuvers made it to eleventh place. Carlos Rivas (Black Falcon Team Textar) was also successful: The Luxembourger celebrated his fourth win in the ProAm class in the Magdeburg Börde. Rivas prevailed in his class against Jan-Erik Slooten (Germany / Phoenix Racing) and Bashar Mardini (UAE / Van Berghe Huber Racing).
“Those were two exciting runs with many sporty, challenging but always fair duels. After Larry ten Voorde and Ayhancan Güven, Laurin Heinrich is already the third driver in the fourth race to drive to victory this season. This underlines the high performance density of our series, ”says Hurui Issak, project manager of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. After four races, ten Voorde (86 points) continues to lead the championship. Heinrich (81 points) and Güven (58 points) follow behind the 24-year-old.
