The second meeting of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Benelux at Circuit Assen once again provides a fun battle on the track
For the second round of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Benelux, the participants and teams traveled to the far north of the Netherlands. The circuit of Assen, world famous for the annual MotoGP, was the setting for two races of 30 minutes with a nice starting field of various Porsche models, ranging from the Porsche 911 GT3 Cyp – Type 992 and 991 – to the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport . In terms of sport, everyone got their money's worth again, from the driven routine, over the fast gentlemen driver to the young wolves who are introduced to motorsport.
During the qualifications it was Alexander Goddijn (Team GP Elite) who came out on top twice on the technical and fast track of Assen. He was ahead of Jaxon Verhoeven (Speedlover) twice, while third place was twice for the fastest rider in the 992 AM class: Jean-Pierre Verhoeven (Speedlover) for the first race and Michel Arfman (GP Elite) in the second round of the day. Nick Ho, on the other hand, was twice the best driver at the wheel of a Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport.
Goddijn's first
The first meeting, shortly after noon, was a battle on all fronts, with a narrow victory for Alexander Goddijn in the end, who beat Jaxon Verhoeven, who had started second, with less than a second bonus. Alexander Goddijn took his second of the season ahead of Verhoeven. Niels Troost, Ziad Geris and Koen Munnichs, all three in the colors of GP Elite, completed the top five. Behind him, Jean-Pierre Verhoeven, Michel Arfman and Robert Sulma battled in 992 AM to finish in that order. Nick Ho took victory in the GT4 class ahead of Arthur Peters (Schepers Racing Service) and GT4 AM winner Bogdan Duma of Romania for Q1 Trackracing.
Goddijn for his second of the season
In the evening, the second and final race of the second meeting of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Benelux was on the menu and this time the pole man was able to finish it off. Alexander Goddijn made it after seventeen laps and the Dutchman immediately won for the third time, after his victory in the opening race at Circuit Zandvoort. Jaxon Verhoeven had to settle for second position, a handful of seconds ahead of the 992 AM class winner, Michel Arfman, who also had a very good day. Jurriaan de Back (Hans Weijs) and Ziad Geris completed the top five, while Jean-Pierre Verhoeven and Belgian Kurt Hensen (Speedlover) took the podium in the 992 AM class.
Michel Arfman, who drove a kind of home race in the colors of Porsche Centrum Twente, explains why this Porsche Sprint Challenge Benelux is so attractive: “
It is a very nice competition, not only for the battle on the track, but also because everything is on track. one day is organized with the same quality standards as for the other Porsche competitions. I feel 100% at home here and am happy with the competition in the 992 AM class. I can only call on other Porsche enthusiasts to take the step and participate in this great adventure.”
Nick Ho, Arthur Peters and Bogdan Duma were the men on the podium in the GT4 class, while Bogdan Duma was four out of four in the GT4 AM class.
The next race of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Benelux is scheduled for Thursday 7 September at Circuit Zolder, just before the meeting of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux on the same Limburg route.
