For the third round of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Benelux, the participants and teams headed to Belgian Limburg after the summer break. Circuit Zolder was the setting for two 30-minute races with a nice starting field consisting of the various Porsche competition models, ranging from the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992 and 991 – to the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport. Jaxon Verhoeven was victorious in both races with his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992 – in the colors of the Belgian Speedlover, which completed a home race, while the fastest man in a Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport was twice Nick Ho. The next meeting of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Benelux is on September 27 at the North Sea at Circuit Zandvoort.

The third meeting of the season was the first home race for the Belgians, who are represented in almost all classes of the growing competition.

“We are entering three cars here today, one for the leader in the GT4 AM, Bogdan Duma, one for newcomer Jayraj Chokshi, both in a Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport and I am also entering the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992 - ”, explains the team manager of the Belgian Q1 Trackracing, Nicolas Vandierendonck. “This competition is ideal for entrepreneurs and business people, because of the excellent time frame and the fact that we are evenly matched. I'm looking forward to the races.”

But there were not only home drivers with a lot of experience at Circuit Zolder, the young Belgian wolves were also present, namely Arthur Peters (Tip Top Rent by NGT) and Jarne Geussens (Roos Motorsport). “We are going to compete against each other and it is of course nice if several young drivers are working in the GT4 class, that raises the level of the competition.”

Kurt Hensen (Speedlover) also defended the Belgian colors “and I just enjoy racing here, especially with André Van Hoof's team, where I feel perfectly at home. I hope to take a podium in my 992 AM class soon.”

As always in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Benelux, all sessions, from the free practice sessions to the qualifications and the races, were completed on one and the same day. Pole position for the first race of the day went to the Dutchman Alexander Goddijn (Team GP Elite). He was faster than Jaxon Verhoeven (Speedlover). Nicolas Vandierendonck drove the fifth fastest time in the Q1 Trackracing Porsche 992 GT3 Cup and was therefore the first in the 992 AM class. Nick Ho was the fastest in the GT4 class. For the second race, pole went to Sacha Norden (Team GP Elite), ahead of Ziad Geris (Team GP Elite). Michel Arfman (Team GP Elite) was fastest in 992 AM, while Nick Ho did it again in GT4.

Twice Verhoeven and twice Ho

The sun was already out at Circuit Zolder, with temperatures of up to 30 degrees and more, which did not make the drivers' task any easier. In the first race, victory went to Jaxon Verhoeven, who won ahead of a trio from Team GP Elite, including Sacha Norden, Alexander Goddijn and Michel Arfman, who also won in the 992 AM class. Nicolas Vandierendonck and Kurt Leimer (Team GP Elite) completed the podium here.

In the GT4 class, the young Dutch promise Nick Ho was the fastest ahead of the Belgian youngsters, Arthur Peters and Jarne Geussens, who thus kept the fastest man in the GT4 AM class behind them, namely Bogdan Duma of Q1 Trackracing. Martijn Peters (JW Raceservice) was the best in the '991' class.

During the late afternoon the overall podium looked identical, with Verhoeven ahead of Norden and Goddijn, while Ho and Duma also repeated their victories in GT4 and GT4 AM. Father Jean-Pierre Verhoeven (Speedlover) completed the family celebration with a victory in the 992 AM class, ahead of Kurt Leimer and Kurt Hensen.
