Triple success for Huber Racing: Heinrich wins ahead of Sching and Ammermüller

Laurin Heinrich (Germany/SSR Huber Racing) won round four of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. With his third victory, the Porsche Junior was able to extend his lead in the championship. “The decisive factor was that I broke away from my pursuers early on. This allowed me to control the pace and keep my tires and Bremen at a good temperature. This is particularly important given these summery weather conditions,” says Heinrich from Würzburg. The SSR Huber Racing team had every reason to be happy: Morris Schuring (Netherlands) and Michael Ammermüller (Germany) completed the podium with two more drivers from the team from Neuburg am Inn in Bavaria.

The spectators in the grandstands saw an entertaining race in sunshine and an outside temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. Heinrich overtook pole debutant Schuring right after the start. The 17-year-old dropped back to fifth position on the first lap, but then showed himself to be fighting. In the course of the race, Schuring worked his way back up the field. In the closing minutes, he first passed Ammermüller and then shortly after defending champion Larry ten Voorde (Netherlands/Team GP Elite). However, Schuring was unable to close the gap to leader Heinrich. With a lead of 2.6 seconds, Heinrich won ahead of his teammate. “On Friday I wrote a final exam. Finishing the weekend in second place feels great,” says Schuring.

Third place is Ammermüller's first podium finish of the current season. "The season hasn't been ideal for me so far. So I'm very happy with third place. Unfortunately, my car was damaged in the closing stages after touching Larry ten Voorde. Otherwise even more might have been possible,” says the three-time champion of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup (2017-2019). Bastian Buus (Denmark/Allied Racing) fought his way into fourth place. Ten Voorde finished fifth. Loek Hartog (Netherlands/Black Falcon) impressed with many overtaking manoeuvres. The pole setter from Saturday's race started from 13th position and improved by seven places.

In the ProAm classification, Carlos Rivas (Black Falcon) prevailed on the 4.318-kilometer alpine roller coaster. The Luxembourger celebrated a class win ahead of his German team-mate Sören Spreng and Jan-Erik Slooten (Germany/IronForce Racing by Phoenix).

After four of 16 races, Heinrich leads the points table with 95 points. The 20-year-old is followed by Pereira (67 points) and Schuring (62 points). “That was an exciting race weekend. With Loek Hartog and Morris Schuring, two drivers from our talent pool program each took first place on the grid. I'm pleased to see that the young pilots from our series are up there at the front and measuring themselves against the experienced drivers," says Hurui Issak, Project Manager of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland.

The next two races of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland are about a month away. From June 17th to 19th, rounds five and six of the DTM will take place at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola (Italy). It's a comeback for the Porsche one-make cup after 30 years: the last race on the Formula 1 track southeast of Bologna was held in 1992 by the German Carrera Cup.
