W&S Motorsport and AVIA racing join forces for the ADAC GT4

W&S Motorsport and the petrol station operator and energy trader AVIA from Munich will start together as AVIA W&S Motorsport in the ADAC GT4 Germany. Nicolaj Møller Madsen (28/DEN) will drive the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport in AVIA racing design. It will be announced at a later date who the professional from Denmark will share the cockpit with. W&S Motorsport was able to achieve two podium places and numerous top 10 results in ten races as a guest starter in the German racing series last year.

The racing team of Patrick Wagner and Daniel Schellhaas can look back on an impressive 2021 season. The victory of the Manthey Trophy, the runner-up title in the Nürburgring Endurance Series and the vice-championship in the team classification at the GTC-Race are the highlights in the team's history so far.

Team boss Daniel Schellhaas is confident about the new season: “We are very happy about the partnership with AVIA and our joint participation in the ADAC GT4 Germany. Guest starts last year showed our potential and we really liked the series. Now we face the challenge in the narrow field of GT4 cars to fight for victories and possibly even for the title. With Nicolaj we have a strong and experienced driver in the cockpit of the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport. We will soon announce who will start alongside him. The use of at least one other Porsche is also planned.” “We are very happy to compete with W&S Motorsport in the ADAC GT4 Germany starting this season,” says Stephan Hauke, who is responsible for sports marketing at AVIA. He further explains: “The series is a perfect platform for presenting our brand and we are starting a promising partnership with the W&S Motorsport team and fast drivers in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport. It will be exciting races and we can certainly celebrate numerous successes.”

Møller Madsen won the 2020 championship in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 and showed his skills at the 2021 season finale at the Nürburgring at the wheel of the Space-Drive Cayman from W&S Motorsport. Here he scored third and second place.

“I'm happy to start again in the ADAC GT4 Germany. This time with the strongest team I have ever driven: the new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport from AVIA W&S Motorsport. Just thinking about it puts a big smile on my face,” begins Møller Madsen and continues: “I am very happy to be working with Daniel and Patrick again. Last year they gave me the chance to drive at the Nürburgring, where we claimed two podium finishes as the fastest Porsche car. After that weekend I knew that one of my programs for 2022 had to be with W&S Motorsport. They are a very professional and ambitious team, but they still have their feet on the ground. Working with AVIA racing is also a great honor for me. We have a strong package to fight for the championship and I can't wait to get back on track.”

So far, 23 teams with over 40 vehicles have registered for 2022 in the ADAC GT4 Germany. Up to seven manufacturers will be represented, and a field of experienced pilots and young talents will offer thrilling racing over 60 minutes per race. The season opener of the ADAC GT4 Germany is on the last weekend of April in Oschersleben. The series as part of the ADAC GT Masters also makes guest appearances at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, in Zandvoort in the Netherlands, at the Nürburgring and at the Sachsenring before the season finale is held in Hockenheim on the penultimate weekend in October.
