Larry ten Voorde wins the season finale and is crowned champion

The new champion in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany is Larry ten Voorde (Nebulus Racing by Huber). In the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, the Dutchman won the final eleventh round of the season and thus decided the exciting title duel against Dylan Pereira (Luxemburg / Förch Racing) for himself. “It was a long way to the title, so I'm all the happier with this success! The start phase went really well, the last meters to the finish were of course a particularly emotional situation, ”said a happily ten Voorde. Pereira took second place in Sunday's race ahead of Leon Köhler (Germany / T3 / HRT Motorsport). Decisions were also made in two other classes: Laurin Heinrich (Germany / T3 / HRT Motorsport) secured overall victory in the rookie championship in his first Carrera Cup year.

In the championship, championship leader ten Voorde and pursuers Pereira were separated by just four points before the final race. From second position ten Voorde got off to a better start than pole-setter Pereira in the 485 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. In the second corner, the Huber driver overtook the 23-year-old - the key scene in the race and in the fight for the title. Ten Voorde confidently defended the lead, did not allow himself to be disturbed by a safety car phase and after 21 laps was the first to cross the finish line. As the fifth driver ever, the 24-year-old managed the feat of winning both the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and the international Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup within one year. Before that, Frank Stippler (2003), René Rast (2012),

With his second place, Pereira could no longer intervene decisively in the title race. “All in all, I can look back on a strong season of mine. The starting position before the final run was good, a small mistake after the start unfortunately cost me the victory and thus the championship. It was a close duel that was ultimately decided by the details, ”said Pereira. Thanks to his sixth podium finish, Köhler secured third place in the overall standings. "My weekend went well with two third places and all in all it was a successful season," said Köhler. His team mate Laurin Heinrich crossed the finish line in fourth on the 3.667 kilometer long race track near Magdeburg.

“That was a really spectacular final weekend. I am proud that the teams and drivers have ensured a great season with their great commitment despite the challenging conditions ”, said Hurui Issak, project manager of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. After the end of the season, the national one-make cup will hold its Experience Day on Monday (November 9th). Eleven young up-and-coming drivers get to know the teams and organizers of the Carrera Cup and are allowed to drive the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup on the race track themselves.
