Will Aspin set to finally make Porsche Supercup debut during British Grand Prix weekend

Will Aspin is set to make his Porsche Supercup debut at Silverstone over the weekend of July 7-9, after the youngster was set to race in the opening round of the season at Imola, which was cancelled due to flooding in the region, earlier this year.

This time out, the teenager who is based in Florence will line up in the familiar surroundings of Team Parker Racing, with whom he competes in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB. Now his second season with the team and in the series, Will has one win and six podiums in the Pro-Am class to his name over the two years. He won't be racing alone, as Pro class teammate Adam Smalley will also be part of the team's line up, bolstering the knowledge and data both drivers.

Will had previously agreed to contest the first round of the 2023 Porsche Supercup season in Italy, lining up with Centro Porsche Firenze and Ghinzani Arco Motorsport in a spectacular special livery celebrating the city, but severe weather and flooding in the area curtailed that weekend’s activities.

He will head out at Silverstone for the single 45-minute free practice session on Friday, July 7th, at 17:40, with 30 minutes of qualifying the following afternoon at 16:45. The race itself is the final action on track before the Grand Prix, scheduled for 11:55 on Sunday, July 9th, over a distance 14 laps or 30 minutes, whichever comes first.

“I'm very excited to be taking part in the Porsche Supercup at Silverstone. I really can't wait to experience the atmosphere and drive on track with the fastest Porsche Cup car drivers. There are no expectations from anyone, especially from myself, and we'll just take as it goes. It will be the hardest event I will have raced in, but that doesn't mean we can't do well. It's great to have Adam doing it as well, so hopefully we can be close to him throughout the weekend. I'm very excited to see how we progress across each session.

“It makes up for not doing Imola a bit, which was a big shame, especially with the car wrapped in that livery as I think it would have attracted a lot of attention from the Italian fans. I'm extremely excited to do Silverstone, competing with Team Parker Racing who I race with in the Carrera Cup GB. They are a great team and I know will give me the best car possible to race with.”
