Duckhams Yuasa Racing to make Porsche Supercup appearance at British Grand Prix

Duckhams Yuasa Racing with Team Parker is set to make an appearance in the Porsche Supercup at the British Grand Prix, as Adam Smalley joins the entry list over the weekend of July 7-9.

The current Porsche GB Junior Driver, Adam leads the Carrera Cup GB standings by a remarkable 32 points at the mid-season break and will use the opportunity to further broaden his knowledge behind the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car as well as testing himself against some of the world’s best.

The Porsche Supercup made its debut in 1993 and races exclusively alongside the Formula 1 World Championship. Drivers compete in identical 992-type GT3 Cup cars in Pro, Pro-Am, and Rookie categories with some of the best Porsche one-make racing teams on the planet.

Adam and the team will be ineligible to score championship points as guest entries this time out, but it will provide the perfect place for the 22-year-old from Lancashire to measure himself on the world stage. As a Member of the prestigious BRDC SuperStars programme as well, he will be able to promote the club with appearances at both the Farm and on the main stage across the weekend.

He will tackle a solitary 45-minute free practice session on Friday, July 7th, at 17:40, with 30 minutes of qualifying the following afternoon at 16:45. The race is set to begin at 11:55 on Sunday, July 9th – the last racing action on track before the British Grand Prix.

Adam Smalley

“I am really looking forward to competing in the Porsche Supercup round at Silverstone. It's a dream come true to compete on a Formula 1 weekend and I'm looking forward to giving it a good go. Last year we had quite a strong result considering we just turned up with zero testing and finished 12th. This year have been on one test day so far, which went quite well, and we were third quickest overall, so it should be an exciting weekend.

“What I thought was going to be a bit of a break isn't, because I went from Oulton Park straight to Zandvoort [in Carrera Cup Deutschland], had a weekend off, then I'm at Silverstone, then Goodwood with Porsche, so it's pretty manic. It's all time in the car, which I absolutely love.

“The racing is very tough in Germany, but it gives you an idea of what to expect going into the Silverstone weekend. Being in the Duckhams liveried car at the British Grand Prix is going to be a very special feeling, in a livery you can't miss, in front of 400,000 spectators across the weekend. Being a BRDC SuperStar is a massive privilege, so that's something else to look forward to over the weekend with the interviews and going on the main stage, so I'm really looking forward to that.”

Chris Hodgen – Programme Manager

“It's really exciting to be going back to the Porsche Supercup this weekend at Silverstone. It's a great event to keep Adam on his toes during the summer break and challenge the quickest Porsche drivers in the world on our home circuit. I would also like to thank our partners for supporting us for this extra event including Porsche GB, Rapid Group, Duckhams, GS Yuasa and the Compliance Guys. I would also like to welcome new partners Porsche Centre Preston, Herth + Buss and Groundhog to the team for this event. Let's hope we can pull off a great result for everyone involved.”
