Top Five Finish for KCMG at Nordschleife

NLS

KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) secured fifth place on its first race appearance at the Nordschleife in 2021 as the team continues its preparation for the Nürburgring 24 Hours in June. Following the cancellation of NLS 1, the second round of the Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie provided KCMG its first opportunity to test itself around the famous track in a race situation this season.

Marco Holzer qualified in sixth and took the start of the 4-hour race. Both Holzer and Edoardo Liberati duelled with other cars on the fearsome track, working their way up to fifth at the chequered flag. The pair collected plenty of data and experience at the Green Hell ahead of the N24 later this year.

Alex Imperatori and Josh Burdon will be in the car for NLS 3 on May 1, before the quartet is reunited for the ADAC Qualification Race.

Racing with Porsche for a second season at the Nordschleife, KCMG is using the NLS races to prepare for another attempt at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, one of the most challenging endurance races in the world, which will take place on 3-6 June.

EDOARDO LIBERATI

I’m really happy and satisfied to start the season with a solid top five finish. We showed strong pace and collected lots of data so we can keep analysing and working to improve. After NLS 1 was cancelled we have less track time before the N24, so this weekend was really important for us and we’re pleased with our work. The team did a great job and Marco was fantastic on his race debut for KCMG.”

MARCO HOLZER

It was a positive weekend for us. We were a bit unlucky in qualifying with traffic but still happy to start sixth. Our race performance was really strong and we gained experience with the track and the car for the upcoming races. I’m happy to have taken home fifth and a big thanks to the team and Edo for making everything run smoothly.”

MATT HOWSON TEAM MANAGER

“It was great to finally get the season started at NLS 2, and it was an excellent team performance. We showed that KCMG has the potential to be a frontrunner in this series, Edo and Marco both drove superb stints and gave us valuable feedback. Now the hard work begins as we concentrate on the details to help us improve even further. I’m looking forward to Alex and Josh taking the car for NLS 3 in May and continuing from where we left off this weekend.”

PAUL IP KCMG FOUNDER

“It was a shame NLS 1 was called off but we made up for it with a great result here. Marco and Edo did a great job to take fifth and we’re on the right path ahead of the N24. The team picked up lots of good data and we’re now looking to be even faster for NLS 3.”
